WASHINGTON, D.C. - University of Dayton women's soccer player
Laney Smith has been named the Atlantic 10 Co-Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday afternoon.
Smith was a catalyst for the Flyers' offense this week, scoring the lone goal in Dayton's 1-0 victory over Richmond on Thursday, then adding an assist in Dayton's 4-0 victory over VCU. The Fort Thomas, Ky. native upped her team-leading point total to nine with the strong week.
The win is the fourth Player of the Week honor the Flyers have earned from the Atlantic 10 this season. Senior keeper
Batoul Reda has won defensive player of the week twice (Aug. 18, Sept.29), and freshman
Caroline Schork won rookie of the week (Sept. 22).
