Dayton's five-match win streak came to an end against Atlantic 10 foe Xavier on Tuesday afternoon in a 6-1 loss to the Musketeers in Cincinnati. Sophomore Michael Rohana tallied UD's lone point with a No. 1 singles victory. The Flyers fell to 7-7, while XU improved to 7-6.
Rohana defeated 2007 first team all-conference performer Doug Matthews, 6-4, 6-3. Rohana is now 7-6 at No. 1 singles this spring, including four wins in his last five matches.
The Flyers dropped the doubles point, but senior James O'Connell and sophomore Matt Sherman were victorious at No. 2. The duo had no trouble with Brian Starr and J.T. Torbeck in an 8-2 win. O'Connell and Sherman have won three consecutive doubles matches together.
The loss ended more than just Dayton's team win streak. Sherman and freshman Bryce Warnock each had individual five-match win streaks snapped.
Dayton returns home for a match against St. Bonaventure on Friday, March 7 at Dayton Center Courts. Match time is slated for 4 p.m. ET.
