The University of Dayton Flyers were downed in a Sunday twinbill against UMass at the UMass Softball Complex in Amherst, Mass. UMass downed Dayton 12-0 in the first contest and 13-3 in the second. With the loss Dayton is now 19-26 this season and 6-10 in the Atlantic 10.
Emily Stegeman hit .333 on the day with one run batted in. Molly Meyer added another double to her season total of seven this season. Dayton has knocked in 53 doubles this season.
Erin Lafayette collected losses in both of the games. LaFayette struck out two batters and walked five in her two appearances.
UD was shut out 12-0 in the first game after failing to record a hit by the A-10's top pitcher Brandice Balschmiter.
The Flyers got things on track in the second game with Stegeman's belt to drive in Anne Maci in the second inning. UMass quickly recovered with a run of their own in the bottom half of the second to knot things up at one.
Dayton added a pair of runs in the fourth and fifth innings by Blair Crabtree and Mollie Schrank, however, the offense of UMass got the best of Dayton as they were downed 13-3 in the second game.
