DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton women's soccer team received votes in the NSCAA/adidas® Top 25 National Ranking for the second consecutive week. The Flyers received seven votes in the latest poll of the nation's best soccer programs.
The Flyers (2-1) dropped a few spots after a weekend that saw UD defeat Pittsburgh 3-2 in double overtime, but fall to No. 15 Illinois, 1-0 in overtime, at the Illini Challenge Cup.
Dayton women's soccer is also currently ranked No. 5 in the NSCAA/adidas & Great Lakes Regional Ranking. The Flyers dropped a spot after earning a No. 4 ranking in the first release. Notre Dame sits atop of the Great Lakes Region standings, followed by Penn State, Illinois, and Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
The Flyers remain ranked seventh of 60 teams in the Great Lakes Region by Soccer Buzz Magazine.
Dayton plays its third Big Ten opponent of the year when it travels to Michigan to take on the Wolverines this Friday, Sept. 5 at 5:30 p.m. ET. UD knocked off nationally-ranked Indiana, 4-1, in its season opener.
