NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - University of Dayton All-American middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier has been named Co-Player of the Atlantic 10.
The junior from Garden City, Mich. shares the honor with last year's Player of the Year Sammi McCloud of Saint Louis. In addition, it is the second consecutive season that Fletemier has been named to the A-10's first team.
Fletemier leads the conference with a .402 attack efficiency. That mark ranks her 11th in Div. I volleyball. She also leads the A-10 averaging 1.31 blocks per set, a number that ranks her 26th nationally.
Earlier this season, she became the 19th Flyer to surpass 1,000 career kills, a mark she has attained in her third year of action. Fletemier ranks 11th in program history with 1,153 total kills and fifth in blocks solos (80) and block assists (315).
Middle blocker Becky Novacek was also named First Team All-Conference by Atlantic 10 Coaches. Redshirt freshman outside hitter Rachel Krabacher was named to the All-Rookie Team. The Flyers have had at least two student-athletes named to an all-conference team for the last 10 seasons.
Fletemier was also named Academic All-Conference along with junior setter Kacie Hausfeld. It is the first time that Dayton has had two Academic All-Conference team members since 1995.
Fletemier and the Flyers await their semifinal opponent, playing the lowest remaining seed in the Atlantic 10 Tournament Saturday at 5:00 p.m. ET. Admission is $6 for Adults and $3 for students, a live video stream can be watched at www.atlantic10.com.
