FLYERS FACE RHODE ISLAND AND DUQUESNE THIS WEEKEND

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton Flyers return to the friendly confines of the Frericks Center for one night only versus the Rhode Island Rams at 7:00 p.m. ET on Friday.

Dayton is receiving votes in the latest AVCA poll, despite dropping a five-set battle against archrival Xavier on Oct. 30 on the road.

Redshirt freshman Rachel Krabacher was named Rookie of the Week for the second time since returning from a foot injury. Krabacher had a career-best 18 kills and 19 digs against the Musketeers.

All-American middle blocker Lindsay Fletemier had another terrific outing against the Temple Owls. Fletemier tied her career-best 23 kills against Temple. She also posted her fourth 20-plus kill match of the year.

Rookie libero Paige Vargas leads all passers averaging 3.57 dig per set for the Red and Blue. Junior outside hitter Amanda Cowdrey averages 3.00 digs per set.

Setters Kacie Hausfeld and Hannah Clancy have increasingly improved their placement of sets throug the year. They have the offense churning out a .255 hitting percentage which ranks 57th in the nation. Hausfeld averages 6.02 assists per set and Clancy averages 4.92.

Rhode Island visits the Frericks Center on Friday seeking revenge for a 3-1 defeat in Kingston, R.I. on Oct. 10.

Rhody is led by Caitlyn Welsh, who averages a team-leading 2.86 kills per set for th Rams. Kayla Newberg averages 2.53 kills per set, while Lauren McIntosh is hitting .289 on the year with 2.16 kps.

Candice Kolkka and Annie Nelson trade setting duties for the rams. Nelson averages 7.71 assists per set, while Kolkka is nearly even clocking in a 7.69 aps.

Kaleyn Klaess, a libero for URI, is the top passer averaging 3.97 digs per set. Welsh is also a dominant passer for the Rams averaging 3.68 per set.

Dayton and Duquesne meet again, this time for a Sunday matinee in Pittsburgh. The Dukes were swept in the last meeting on Oct. 16 at the Frericks Center.

Nicole Wright leads the attack for Duquesne. In 97 sets played this season, she averages 3.00 kills per set, but is only hitting .168 on the year.

Celina, Ohio native, Liz Homan is a dangerous threat in the middle position for the Dukes. Homan is hitting .330 at a 2.49 kps clip, but also leads the team with a blocking average of .89 per set.

Libero Amy Palko averages 3.94 digs per set and is the Dukes' top passer. Nicole Wright averages 3.10 per set.

Friday's match will not be available for live streaming due to the men's soccer match against Xavier. However, live Gametracker will be available for both matches this weekend.
