MANDI B?CK SELECTED FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICA

  • 2009 NSCAA All-America Teams

DAYTON, Ohio - Senior Mandi Bäck became the first ever University of Dayton women's soccer player to be named a First Team NSCAA All-America selection when the 2009 Division I Teams were announced today.

Bäck is the first player from the Atlantic 10 to earn first team All-America honors from the NSCAA since Massachusetts' Erica Iverson was tabbed a first-teamer in 1997. The forward from North Olmsted, Ohio, led the Flyers to an unbeaten regular season, and the A-10 regular season and tournament championships in 2009.

Bäck led the Flyers in scoring for the fourth consecutive season, and finished her career as a four-time First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection. She tallied eight goals and nine assists in her senior campaign. She put away the deciding penalty kick in a shootout against Marquette that sent Dayton to the Second Round of the NCAA Tournament.

She was the 2007 Atlantic 10 Offensive Player of the Year, and the 2008 Ohio Player of the Year. Bäck was named to the A-10 All-Championship team twice (2008 & 2009).

Bäck intends to continue her soccer career at the next level. She finished her UD career with 37 goals (including 12 game-winners), 16 assists and 90 points. She played 6,308 minutes in 84 games during her four-year illustrious career. Her 37 goals place her fourth all-time at UD, while her 90 points is fifth.
