LEXINGTON, Ky. - University of Dayton head coach Kelly Sheffield has been named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Board of Directors as the Awards Representative.
"I have a lot of respect for the leadership of the AVCA," said Sheffield. "It is a great organization that is very committed to growing the sport at all levels and helping coaches better themselves in this profession. I am honored that they think I am someone that can help them."
Sheffield will serve a three-year term on the board. He will oversee the selection of all AVCA awards, Division I All-America Committee Meetings, communicate relative rules and regulations for AVCA awards to members and review proposals for new awards programs.
Under Sheffield's guidance the University of Dayton volleyball team finished with an overall 21-13 record, including an 11-2 record in the Atlantic 10, claiming second place in the conference and earning an at-large berth into the NCAA Tournament.
