FLYER FANS: PACK THE HOUSE AND WEAR RED THIS FRIDAY

GAME NOTES

DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton men’s soccer team (4-4-3, 0-0-2 A-10) returns home for a pair of pivotal Atlantic 10 matches when they host the Temple Owls and the Saint Joseph’s Hawks at Baujan Field this weekend.

Friday’s match vs. Temple is “Pack the House Night” and the Flyers will try to set a new men’s soccer attendance record of 2,300 at Baujan Field. As part of Pack the House Night, the first 200 fans in attendance will receive a voucher for a free hot dog, bag of chips, and canned pop. Also, one lucky UD student will walk away with a free Dayton-2-Daytona trip. Raffle tickets will be distributed until the final 10 minutes of the first half and the winner will be announced at the end of the game. Everyone in attendance is encouraged to wear red to the match. The Flyers open the weekend against the Temple Owls on Friday, Oct. 15 at 7 p.m.
There will also be a UD Silly Bandz giveaway to the first 400 fans at Sunday’s game against St. Joseph’s.

The Flyers tied both of their Atlantic 10 matches to open conference play last weekend. The Flyers battled to a nil-dil draw against Rhode Island on Oct. 8 and a 1-1 tie against UMass on Oct. 10.

Junior goalkeeper Tyler Picard earned his fifth shutout of the season. He is one shutout away from tying his career-high season mark of six that was set last year.

Senior defender Tommy Watkins leads the team with seven points. Watkins has three goals and an assist. Sophomore Evan McCreary has six points on two goals and two assists.

Temple is 3-5-2 and 1-0 in the Atlantic 10 after notching a 3-0 conference win against Saint Joseph’s last Saturday.

Junior Tyler Witmer leads the Owls with eight points this season (3 G, 2 A). Sophomore Andrew Dodds and senior Max Kinderwater are tied for the team-lead with three assists. Senior goalkeeper Bret Mollon has played 944 minutes and has a 0.86 goals against average. Mollon has four shutouts this season. Dayton is 9-5-1 all-time against the Owls.

UD closes out the weekend on Sunday, Oct. 17 at 1 p.m. against the Saint Joseph’s Hawks. Saint Joseph’s is 0-1 in A-10 play this season after losing its conference opener to Temple last weekend 3-0. The Hawks are 1-8-0 overall this season with their lone win coming at home against Iona.

Five Saint Joseph’s players are tied for the lead with two points apiece. Freshman Patrick McGlynn tallied the Hawks’ lone game-winner this season. Freshman Ryan McFadden leads the team with two assists. Goalkeeper Michael Moulton has started six contests this season and has a 2.46 goals against average. The Flyers are 10-1-2 all-time against Saint Joseph’s.
