BULGRIN, LEMON NAMED PERFORMERS OF THE WEEK

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –
University of Dayton cross country swept the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week awards on Monday as Chris Lemon was honored for the fourth consecutive week and Maureen Bulgrin was listed for the second time this season.

Lemon set a course record and captured his fourth individual title of the season at the 56th Annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship with a time of 24:11. The Bowling Green, Ohio native became the first Flyer in program history to win an All-Ohio meet.

Bulgrin placed second out of 70 runners in the women’s 5K All-Ohio Championship. The senior from Munroe Falls, Ohio set a new personal record with a time of 17:19 and has placed either first in second in every race this season. Bulgrin helped the Flyers to a second-place finish in a field that included four regionally-ranked teams. 

Lemon was Co-Performer of the Week with Richmond’s Andrew Benford. Xavier’s Tom Ohlman and Richmond’s Jillian Prentice were honored with respective Rookie of the Week accolades.

MEN’S AND WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY RANKED REGIONALLY
In other news released on Monday, both men’s and women’s cross country teams were ranked in the Great Lakes Region of the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Coaches’ Poll. The men re-enter the poll for the first time since Sept. 13 with a No. 15 ranking. The women’s squad is in the poll for the 13th consecutive week at No. 9 – matching its highest ranking in program history.

Both teams finished second at the 56th Annual All-Ohio Intercollegiate Championship last Friday and will have a week off to prepare for the NCAA Pre-Nationals on Saturday, Oct. 16, in Terre Haute, Ind.
