2010 NCAA Men's Individual Results
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – University of Dayton senior Chris Lemon competed for the second time on the largest stage of college cross country and improved upon his finish at the 2010 NCAA Men’s Cross Country Championships.
He finished 84th overall in a time of 30:57.8 Monday at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course in extremely windy conditions. The time was two seconds slower than his run at the 2008 Championships, but he jumped 18 spots. In addition, he finished 13th overall of the 38 runners competing as individuals.
His time of 30:57.8 is the third fastest 10K in Flyer history. Lemon owns the record 30:31 (set last weekend at Regionals) and the second fastest time of 30:55 (set at the 2008 NCAA race).
“Chris left it all out on the course. He ran until his tank was empty,” said UD Head Coach Rich Davis. “He gave everything he had. He ran a very hard race nine days ago at regionals and he ran a hard race today.”
In addition to two NCAA appearances, Lemon is a two-time UD White-Allen Most Valuable Runner and All-Great Lakes Region honoree, as well as a two-time Atlantic 10 Student Athlete of the Year. He is a three-time all-conference performer, including when he became the first Dayton men’s runner to win the individual title in 2009. He’s led Dayton in every race for the past two seasons, earning nine A-10 Performer of the Week honors in that span.
In addition to owning Dayton 10K mark, he holds UD’s 8K record of 24:05 set at the 2010 National Catholic Invitational, in which Lemon was champion. He is UD’s 5K record holder with a time of 14:45 at the 2010 Flyer 5K Challenge which he also won.
