DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton softball Head Coach
Cara LaPlaca has announced the addition of Katie Campbell to the Flyer coaching staff this season. Campbell joins Assistant Coach Sarah Harman and Volunteer Assistant
Barry Reed.
“We are excited to add Katie Campbell to our coaching staff,” LaPlaca said. “She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to our program. She strongly supports the values and mission of the University of Dayton. Her international experience is also a wonderful addition to our staff.”
She joins the UD softball program as an experienced player and coach, lettering four years combined for Northwestern University and the University of Kansas from 1998 to 2002. In addition, Campbell was a former assistant coach at Wright State and Central High School in Clifton, Ill. Prior to her time at Central High School, she served as a volunteer assistant for the University of Virginia.
“I am excited to be a part of a program that is up and coming,” Campbell said. “Coach LaPlaca has taken this program to a new level and I am looking forward to the coming season. We have a great team with hard working women and I think we can go far.”
Campbell, a native of Ashkum, Ill., earned her bachelor of science in physical education from Kansas, and was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection during her playing career.
Campbell also works with Athletes in Action a Christian sports ministry in Xenia, Ohio in the Humanitarian Aid and Partnernship Department working with AIA’s international sports teams. She also taught health and physical education internationally in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and at The American School in Switzerland (TASIS).
