DAYTON, Ohio - The Dayton Flyers Champions & Scholars Fund, UD athletics comprehensive annual fund-raising initiative, is pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural membership drive raffle. 

Gary and Beth Pasternak of Ocean City, N.J. and 1976 graduates of UD entered and won two great seats to the historic rivalry game between Dayton and Xavier at UD Arena on Sunday, Feb. 27. Also included in the prize package is lodging the night before the game, dinner, a Dayton Flyers merchandise gift basket, and behind-the-scenes access to an arena tour, pre-game chalk talk and post-game press conference. 

“We are delighted for Gary and Beth to receive this great prize package as a true Flyer fan”, said Brian Tracy, Athletic Development Officer. “We are counting on them to cheer UD on to victory against Xavier. We were impressed with the number of responses from fans, friends and alumni in our initial roll out of the Champions & Scholars Fund. There is no doubt we have an incredible number of supporters all over the country.”

Active membership in the Champions & Scholars Fund can be obtained with a minimum annual $100 gift to an athletic designated account, which includes sport programs and existing scholarships.

Members will receive tangible benefits based on their giving level which includes electronic correspondence, invitations to events, commemorative items and decal. Individuals can make commitments on-line, through the mail or over the phone.

The purpose of the Champions & Scholars Fund is to provide and enhance opportunities for over 400 University of Dayton student-athletes on 17 teams.The goal is to increase revenue by way of annual gifts, which will be put to use immediately to advance the athletic program in the areas of scholarships, operational expenses and facility enhancements.

The increased resources generated by the Champions & Scholars Fund help improve the athletic department’s standing on a national level of and increase visibility for the University of Dayton.
