WOMEN'S TENNIS DEFEATED BY DUQUESNE, 6-1

Pittsburgh, PA - In Pittsburgh on Saturday, the University of Dayton women's tennis team faced-off against their first Atlantic 10 opponent of the season, Duquesne. After an early rally to claim the doubles point, the Flyers struggled on the singles court, dropping the match 6-1.

Julie Kirkland and Loni Dickerhoof notched their seventh win of the year at the No. 1 doubles position, with a 9-7 decision over the Duke's McGowen/Noble pair. Together, the two lead UD's doubles play, owning a 0.778 winning percentage (7-2). Juniors Laina Grote and Kelly O'Connell also contributed to the Flyers' only point, improving to 6-3 at the No. 2 spot, as they beat Mungo/Conroy by an 8-6 margin.

The squad is now 4-6 in 2010 and will look to add another win to their record today, against Oakland. Play is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. ET.
