DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton women’s soccer team is receiving national recognition going into its 2010 campaign.
The Flyers are No. 21 in the Soccer America Women’s Preseason Top 25 rankings. UD is also receiving votes in the NSCAA Preseason poll, coming in at No. 36. The Flyers are No. 37 in the TopDrawerSoccer Women’s Tournament 64 Ranking.
Dayton, selected to finish first in the Atlantic 10 this season, returns five all-conference performers, including the reigning A-10 Defensive Player of the Year Katherine Boone and the Rookie of the Year Colleen Williams. The Flyers, who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament and finished with a 16-1-6 record, also return their entire defense which posted a school-record 15 shutouts.
The Flyers open the regular season this Friday, Aug. 20 vs. Butler at 5 p.m. ET at Baujan Field. Admission is free to all UD home soccer matches.
