USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Senior Alli Giner had a goal and an assist in Dayton’s 2-0 win over Air Force Sunday at Cadet Soccer Stadium.
The Flyer women’s soccer team now has a 3-1 record after going 1-1 in a weekend series in the Rocky Mountains. UD bounced back from a 1-0 overtime loss to Colorado College with the 2-0 shutout over the Falcons.
Dayton got on the board in the 23rd minute. Sophomore Colleen Williams scored her team-leading third goal of the season. Giner served the ball in from the left corner. Williams got a head on it, redirecting it from 10 yards out, sending it past the Air Force diving goalkeeper.
Sophomore Alysha Mallon helped set up the Flyers’ next goal in the 80th minute. She took a shot from the left corner of box, which sent the Air Force keeper diving to make a save. Giner cleaned up the rebound to score her first goal of the season.
Senior Lisa Rodgers had four saves in goal for Dayton, posting her second shutout in her second start.
Dayton returns home and will host Ohio State (2-1-1) this Friday, Sept. 3 at 6 p.m. at Baujan Field. Admission is free.
