ANG'S STRONG PERFORMANCE EARNS HER A 2ND PLACE FINISH AT THE YSU INVITE

COLUMBIANA, Ohio – Thanks to a second round 76 junior Clara Ang placed in second at the 2010 Youngstown State Invitational.

Ang’s second place finish was a career-best and her 76 was one stroke away from her career low round. She finished with a total of 154 at the tournament.

“She is a tremendous ball striker,” head coach Sally Kosters said. “Her strong suit is hitting greens in regulation and she did a good job of that here. She is always putting herself in position for birdie.”

Battling gusty winds throughout the round, the Flyers shaved nine strokes off of their day one score and tallied a 322 in round two.

Part of the team’s improvement came from Ang’s sister, Cheryl, who improved from an 86 in the first round to an 82 in the second.

Junior Heather Jorgensen also had a better second round firing an 81. Senior Megan Keating tallied back-to-back scores of 84 to round out the scoring.

“I saw a lot of good things,” Kosters said. “Against the competition, it was a good start.”

Up next for the Flyers will be the Chicago State Invitational. The two-day event will take place from Sept. 20-21 in Hammond, Ind.
