Dayton brings a nine-match winning streak and 31-match winning streak against A-10 opponents into its 70th match against rival Xavier … It is the only match of the weekend for both teams – which are first and second in the A-10 standings.
Leaders - The Flyers lead the A-10 in team hitting percentage (.278), opponent hitting percentage (.165), kills per set (13.73) and blocks per set (2.52) … Sophomore middle blocker Megan Campbell leads the A-10 and ranks 12th in the nation in blocks per set (1.44) and 9th in hitting percentage (.414) … Junior outside hitter Rachel Krabacher leads the A-10 and ranks 17th in the nation in kills per set (4.48) and 18th in points per set (5.0) … Junior setter Samantha Selsky leads the A-10 in assists per set (10.48).
Last weekend UD defeated George Washington (3-0) and Charlotte (3-0) on the road ... Eight of Dayton’s last nine wins have been three-set sweeps … Against GW, Dayton recorded a season-high 10 service aces with zero service errors.
In the rankings - UD earned 20 points in the most recent AVCA Top-25 Coaches Poll – the 39th consecutive week UD has been receiving votes … All five of UD’s losses are against teams which are currently ranked, including a five-set loss to No. 1 Illinois … Dayton was ranked No. 19 in the preseason poll.
Preseason favorites – The Flyers were picked to win their third consecutive Atlantic 10 title in 2011, according the A-10 Preseason Coaches Poll … UD has been to the NCAA Tournament in seven of the last eight seasons.
Head Coach Kelly Sheffield has a 92-26 record at UD and 234-105 overall record … In 2010, Sheffield was the AVCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year and A-10 Co-Coach of the Year.
