NSCAA Mid-Atlantic All-Region Teams

KANSAS CITY –
The National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) announced the women’s soccer 2011 All-Region honorees today.

Three University of Dayton women’s soccer players were selected to the Mid-Atlantic All-Region teams.

Senior defender Kathleen Beljan and junior forward Colleen Williams were selected to the first team, while sophomore Juliana Libertin was named to the third team.

Beljan picked up first team honors for the third consecutive season, and was also second team as a freshman. Williams earned first team honors last season and third team honors as a freshman in 2009.

Beljan helped the Flyers to 45 shutouts during her four-year career. She was the first Flyer named to the Hermann Trophy Watch List and was also the 2010 Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Year. She is a three-time First Team Atlantic 10 selection.

Williams has led UD in scoring all three of her seasons. This year she broke several UD career records. She is first in career assists with 36 and also moved into first all-time for career points with 118. Williams also broke the single-season assist record this year with 15. She was named to the 2011 Hermann Trophy Watch List after a season that saw her earn A-10 Offensive Player of the Year honors and 2010 NSCAA/Performance Subaru Women’s Soccer NCAA Division I All-America Second Team accolades.

Libertin was Dayton’s second leading scorer this season with 10 goals and 10 assists. She was a 2010 Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team honoree.

Libertin (10 goals and 10 assists) and Williams (16 goals and 15 assists) were the only duo on the same team in NCAA D-I women’s soccer to have double digits in goals scored and assists.

The Flyers captured their third consecutive A-10 Tournament Championship this season and third straight NCAA Tournament berth. Dayton finished the season with a 19-4-0 record and No. 27 in the final NCAA RPI.
