2011 FLYER WOMEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

2011 Printable Schedule

March 11, 2011

DAYTON, Ohio –
Mike Tucker, reigning Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, has announced the release of the 2011 University of Dayton women’s soccer schedule. The fall campaign features games against three Big Ten Conference opponents, one from the Big 12, and one from the SEC.

"This is a very demanding schedule, with every match extremely competitive,” said Tucker. “The non-conference matches will give us an opportunity to gauge our progress and to compare with many of the top teams from throughout the country.”

The Flyers, the two-time defending A-10 champs, will host nine games at Baujan Field. Non-conference home games include Cal Poly (Aug. 21), Wisconsin (Sept. 2), Kentucky (Sept. 17) and Oakland (Sept. 25).

UD kicks off the A-10 portion of its schedule against Xavier on Sept. 23. Following a four-game road swing, the Flyers will be back home for the final four games of the regular season: Saint Joseph’s (Oct. 21), Temple (Oct. 23), Saint Louis (Oct. 28) and Charlotte (Oct. 30).

“Our A-10 schedule is also very competitive, and it's great to have a couple of schools back on the schedule who we have not seen in a few years,” said Tucker. “We certainly will have to compete at our peak to have much success."

Dayton, coming off back-to-back NCAA Second Round appearances, will play 10 games on the road, including two tournaments hosted by Big Ten Conference schools; Northwestern and Purdue. UD will also get a rematch against Ohio State, who went to the Final Four of the 2010 NCAA Tournament. The Flyers tied the Buckeyes 0-0 in double overtime in the Second Round, but OSU advanced on penalty kicks.

Dayton starts the 2011 season on the road against Middle Tennessee on Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. The Flyers take on Loyola, Ill. (Aug. 26) and Northwestern (Aug. 28) in the Northwestern Tournament. UD plays Kansas (Sept. 9) and either Purdue or Cal Northridge on Sept. 11 in the Purdue Tournament.

The Flyers play against Ohio State in Columbus on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The A-10 road schedule includes: La Salle (Oct. 7), Fordham (Oct. 9), George Washington (Oct. 14) and Richmond (Oct. 16).

The University of Dayton will host the Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship Nov. 3-6.

The Flyers will scrimmage Michigan on Aug. 12 at Baujan Field. Admission is free for all UD soccer matches at Baujan Field.

Last season Dayton captured the Atlantic 10 regular season and tournament titles for the second consecutive season. The Flyers advanced to the NCAA Second Round for the second straight year and finished the season with a 19-3-1 record.
