FLYERS SWEPT BY WRIGHT STATE

DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton softball team was swept by the Wright State Raiders on Wednesday in a rainy doubleheader at UD Softball Stadium. The Flyers (10-12) were defeated 9-1 in both games.

Senior Alicia Nichols had UD’s only RBI of the series. Nichols drove in freshman Dana Trotta on a base hit up the middle in the second game. Trotta had one double in the series and had seven assists at third base for the Flyers. Nichols had Dayton’s other run, scoring on a double steal from third in the first game.

Freshman Alysha Isaacson (5-5) was saddled with the loss in game one. She pitched three innings and allowed six earned runs. Sophomore Amanda Daly pitched 4.2 innings of relief for Dayton with one strikeout. Junior Sarah Wedel (3-5) was the losing pitcher in the second game, Wedel had one strikeout.

Dayton returns to action on Thursday at Ball State. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
