DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton Flyers earned a 10-9 win over the George Washington Colonials in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader. UD is 11-15 and 3-3 in the Atlantic 10.
Freshman Alysha Isaacson ripped a two-out RBI single in the seventh inning to give Dayton its 11th win on the year. The Flyers had four home runs combined from Lauren Nacke, Kathleen Maloof, Dana Trotta and Courtney Kutsulis. Maloof was 3-for-4 with two RBI.
Isaacson was also the winning pitcher for the second game. Isaacson (6-5) had four strikeouts and three earned runs against in 5.1 innings pitched. Sarah Wedel pitched 1.2 innings of relief for UD.
Dayton lost the first game to George Washington after the Colonials scored four runs in the final two innings to win 5-4. The Flyers made two spectacular double plays in the game, one was turned by Trotta and the other by Maloof.
Maloof was 2-for-4 in the first game with one RBI. Brandy Brown, Emily Stegeman and Trotta also had RBI against GW.
Wedel pitched 6.0 innings in the first game and had one strikeout. Amanda Daly (2-4) was dealt the loss, pitching 2.0 innings while striking out three.
Dayton returns to action on Thursday against Youngstown State starting at 3 p.m.
