DAYTON SMACKS THREE HOMERS IN 10-3 WIN OVER HOWARD

LUBBOCK, Texas
– Home runs from the bats of junior Lauren Nacke and freshman Dana Trotta helped the University of Dayton Flyers win 10-3 over the Howard University Bison.

The win improves Dayton to 6-4 this season, and increases the Flyers’ winning streak to five in a row.

“We had outstanding performances from Nacke and Dana at the plate,” Head Coach Cara LaPlaca said. “We did a great job defensively and made the plays that we needed to make.”

Nacke, the Flyers’ career record-holder in home runs, smacked her 19th and 20th of her career on Friday for five RBI. She was 2-for-3 at the plate against the Bison.

Freshman Dana Trotta was also 2-for-3. Trotta hit her first collegiate home run with two outs in the bottom of the fifth inning.

Freshman left-handed pitcher Alysha Isaacson pitched her third consecutive complete game for a win. Isaacson (4-1) had two strikeouts as the Bison grounded out 17 times in the game.

Howard opened the scoring on a solo home run in the second inning, however, the Flyers we quick to regain control in the third inning with Nacke’s first home run of the day. With a full count, Nacke unleashed a three-run home run to left field to give UD a 3-1 lead.

The Bison suffered a similar fate in Nacke’s next at-bat in the bottom of the fifth inning. The right-hander rocked an opposite field home run two score two more runs for the Flyers. Trotta’s two-run home run put Dayton up 7-1.

Howard put two runs on the board in the top of the sixth, however, UD tacked on an additional three runs to dispatch the Bison.

Dayton Drops 8-0 Decision To Red Raiders

LUBBOCK, Texas
– The University of Dayton softball team fell 8-0 to the No. 19/20 Texas Tech Red Raiders in five innings at the Red Raider Classic.

Sophomore Amanda Daly was dealt her second loss of the season pitching 3.0 innings with one strikeout. Junior Sarah Wedel pitched one inning and didn’t allow an earned run.
