NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton track and field standout Maura Bulgrin has been tabbed as the Atlantic 10’s Performer of the Week after record-breaking performance at the Miami Invitational.
Bulgrin set a new school record in the 1500 meters at the Miami Invitational. The senior from Munroe Falls, Ohio, recorded a time of 4:25.96, good enough for second place. Her time leads the A-10 this season and ranks in the Top 50 nationally.
Bulgrin is quietly becoming one of the most decorated Flyers in program history. She was named to the Atlantic 10 First Team and Most Outstanding Performer during the indoor season for her school record-breaking times in the 3K and distance medley. Bulgrin was also one of Sports Illustrated’s Faces in the Crowd in the March 3 edition of the publication.
The Flyers have two more events before the Atlantic 10 Championships, which will be held in Charlotte, N.C. on May 7 and 8. Dayton will compete in the All-Ohio Championships in Cincinnati this weekend, and the Ashland Alumni Open on April 29 and 30.
