NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – University of Dayton left-handed pitcher Alysha Isaacson has been picked as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week after a couple of standout appearances last weekend.

Isaacson threw a career-best six strikeouts in a 2-1 loss to the Butler Bulldogs, who are in second place in the Horizon League. She then went on to pitch a one-hit complete-game shutout against Saint Louis to earn a 4-0 victory on Saturday.

It was Isaacson’s seventh complete game of the year and her second shutout; she leads the team with 40 strikeouts on the season. Additionally, the freshman from Chula Vista, Calif., went 2-for-4 with a run in the win over the Billikens, and 3-for-6 overall in the series.

The Flyers are set for a critical six-game homestand this week at UD Softball Stadium. Dayton will host Morehead State on Wednesday in a doubleheader. They will turn around and welcome UMass and Rhode Island this weekend.
