LALOR, NANCE, QUEEN AND RATERMAN NAMED WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CAPTAINS

2011-12 Dayton Women's Basketball Quick Facts

DAYTON, Ohio –
Seniors Patrice Lalor, Casey Nance, Elle Queen and Justine Raterman have been selected to be the captains of the 2011-12 University of Dayton women’s basketball team. Queen and Raterman were also captains last season.

Raterman, a First Team All-Atlantic 10 selection, is UD’s top returning scorer with 16.1 ppg. The 2011 A-10 All Championship Team selection has led Dayton in scoring in each of her three seasons and currently has 1,399 points, seventh all-time at UD. She has 723 career rebounds, eighth all-time at UD.

Queen is a two-time winner of the UD Coaches Award which goes to the player who exceeds the expectations of the coaching staff by going above and beyond in her quest to be the best. She has averaged 5.1 ppg in her two seasons at Dayton.

Lalor, the Flyers’ starting point guard, has 371 career assists, seventh all-time at UD. She’s led the Flyers in that category all three seasons. She is a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Athlete. Lalor scored 8.7 ppg last season, up from the 5.6 ppg she scored as a sophomore.

Nance is second all-time at UD in blocked shots. She was named to the A-10 All-Rookie Team in 2008-09 and to the All-Defensive Team in 2009-10. She is also a two-time Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Athlete.

Dayton is coming off back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances and loses just one starter from the 2010-11 squad that advanced to the finals of the Atlantic 10 Championship for the first time in program history. Dayton led the A-10 and finished 22nd in the country in scoring offense (74.2) and was also 22nd in the NCAA in rebounding margin (+6.3). The Flyers were 15th in the country in three-point field goal percentage (36.6).

The Flyers open the 2011-12 season with their first official practice on Sunday, Oct. 2.
