LEXINGTON, Ky. - The AVCA announced their Top 25 poll Monday and kept the University of Dayton women's volleyball team at No. 18 in the nation.
With a 15-4 record overall and a perfect 7-0 conference mark, the Flyers are winners of seven straight contests. This past week, Dayton defeated Xavier (3-1), Fordham (3-0), and Rhode Island (3-0) at all home.
For the 55th consecutive week, UD has either been ranked or received votes in the AVCA poll. The last poll without a mention of the Flyers was on Nov. 23, 2009.
All four of Dayton's losses this year came against teams that are currently in the Top 25. Minnesota (No. 10) and Kansas State (No. 14) are ranked ahead of the Flyers, while Western Kentucky (No. 19) and Ohio State (No. 20) are just behind UD.
Penn State, Stanford and Oregon rounded out the Top 3 overall. Dayton remains the only team in the Atlantic 10 in the rankings.
Head Coach Kelly Sheffield and the Dayton squad will return to action this weekend when they travel to Saint Louis Friday and Butler Sunday.
