FLYER TRACK TURNS IN STRONG SHOWING AT THE WEEMS BASKIN INVITE

Final Results

COLUMBIA, S.C. - The University of Dayton track program performed well at the Weems Baskin Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina on Saturday. 

“Overall it was good meet for us,” Dayton track and field coach Jason Francis said. “We were able to have a number of strong performances across the board.”

Several Flyers placed high in their respective events, including Hilary Lang.  Lang garnered the top spot in in the long jump with a jump of 18-07.25 feet (5.67m). Her mark is a new school record in the long jump.

Lizzie Gleason and Marisa Slomski led the pack in the 3,000m Steeplechase. Gleason took the top spot in the race running a time of 11:17.03. This was 13 seconds better than Slomski’s second place time of 11:30.07. The two dominated the race as the third place finisher ran a time of 11:47.50.

Dayton dominated the pole vault with five Flyers in the top five. Hanna Krizmanic, Katrina Steinhauser and Pembroke Strickland tied for second with a height of 11-11.75 (3.65m). Sarah Gaskell and Ashley DeMange tied for fifth with a height of 10-11.75 (3.35m).

Dayton next travels to compete in the Oliver Nikoloff Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio on Friday Mar. 30 and Saturday Mar. 31.



3,000 Steeplechase
Lizzie Gleason placed first (11:17.03) and Marisa Slomski placed second (11:30.07).

4x100 Relay
Dayton placed 10th with a time of 47.92.

1,500 Run
Nicole Cargill came across in fifth with a time of 4:42.73. Kelly Johnston finished in ninth (4:46.93), Sarah Reynolds in 16th (4:53.22) and Nicole Armstrong in 21st (5:00.39).

400 Dash
Rachel Weber was the top Flyer placing 14th with a time of 57.48. Maya Pedersen placed 17th with a time of 57.70. Mariah Curtis placed 24th with a time of 59.89.

100 Hurdles
Maddi Schmidt came across in13th (15.18), Rebecca Maj in 14th (15.27) and Hilary Lang in 20th (15.77).

800 Run
Kassy Thomas led the squad with a ninth place finish (2:18.67) and Lauren Clark in 13th (2:21.08).

200 Dash
Noelle Tazioli led all Flyers placing 11th with a time of 25.10.

Hammer Throw
Aly Weeman placed eighth with a toss of 162-03 (49.45m). Renee Otte placed ninth with a toss of 161-11 (49.36m).

Pole Vault
Dayton dominated the event with five Flyers in the top five. Hanna Krizmanic, Katrina Steinhauser and Pembroke Strickland tied for second with a height of 11-11.75 (3.65m). Sarah Gaskell and Ashley DeMange tied for fifth with a height of 10-11.75 (3.35m).

Javelin Throw
Erin Baldinger placed 20th with a throw of 92 feet (32.20m).

Long Jump
Hilary Lang won the event with a jump of 18-07.25 feet (5.67m). This is a new school record.

Triple Jump
Maddi Schmidt placed eighth with a jump of 37-03.25 (11.36m).

High Jump
Juliana Lawniczak and Ellie Grandi tied for seventh place with jumps of 5-03.00 (1.60m).
