CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Junior Matt Buse fired a career-best 68 in round two to put himself in a tie for third at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Championship.
Buse is just two strokes back of the leader, Charlotte's Raoul Menard.
The Cincinnati native enjoyed a spectacular back nine where he had five birdies with only a single bogey. Buse finished the day four-under par and had seven birdies total in his second round.
His efforts kept the Dayton Flyers in sixth. After shooting a 293 in round one, UD improved slightly with a 289 total in the second 18 holes of play.
Buse's previous career best was a 69 at the 2010 Big Blue Invitational. The last Flyer to break a 70 at the A-10 Championship was Rob Chappell who fired a 64 at the 2008 tournament.
After a slow start in round one, senior Michael Oberschmidt roared back with an even-par 72 in the second. Oberschmidt was not flashy, but got the job done with two birdies in his round.
Freshman George Rohde III fired a one-over par 73 in round two. He recorded birdies on holes 13 and 16.
Junior Sean Keating shot a 76 in round two and classmate Brenten Blakeman added a 78.
The third and final round will occur on Sunday, April 29 at the Heron Bay Golf Club in Coral Springs, Fla. Live scoring will be available via DaytonFlyers.com and Golfstat.com.
