Game One Box | Game Two Box

DAYTON, Ohio
– The University of Dayton softball team (14-19, 2-6 A-10) split with Saint Louis Billikens (17-19, 4-4 A-10) on Saturday at UD Softball Stadium. Dayton lost 3-2 in game one and won 3-2 in game two.
The Flyers were led by freshman Natalie Mariano who was 2-for-5 on Saturday. Senior Courtney Kutsulis was 1-for-3 with a double. Senior Megan Barrett had a two-run home run and senior Brandy Brown had an RBI.

Freshman Kayla English (4-6) had 10 strikeouts in a complete game. English allowed two earned runs in the loss. Sophomore Alysha Isaacson (3-7) had one strikeout and one walk, also pitching a complete game. Isaacson allowed two earned runs.

Dayton opened up the scoring in game one on Barrett’s blast over the left field fence to give UD a 2-0 lead in the second inning.

SLU responded with the decisive blast in the third inning when Laura Bohning hit a three-run home run to give the Billikens the eventual 3-2 win.

Rachel Faletto broke five innings of scoreless action in game two, when she hit a two-run home run to put the Billikens up 2-0.

UD charged back in the bottom half of the sixth inning on Brown’s groundout.

With one out and runners on the corners, Isaacson reached base on a fielding error by the first baseman, which allowed Kutsulis to score. After the right fielder plucked the errant ball, her throw was wild causing another error and allowing Jennings to score from first. Jennings’ final run was the game-winning tally for UD.

Dayton returns to action against the Wright State Raiders on Monday at 3 p.m. ET in Fairborn, Ohio in a doubleheader with the Raiders.
