MIKE TUCKER ANNOUNCES 2012 UD WOMEN'S SOCCER SCHEDULE

Printable Schedule

DAYTON, Ohio - Head Coach Mike Tucker has announced the release of the 2012 University of Dayton women’s soccer schedule.  Dayton will be facing opponents from the Big Ten, Big Twelve, Big East, Ivy League and ACC in the non-conference portion of its schedule, which also includes a game against Boston University, the reigning America East conference champions.

Dayton kicks off the season with two exhibition matches, one at Butler (Aug. 8) and the other at home against Miami-FL (Aug. 10).

"Once again we will be challenging ourselves early, with two tough exhibition matches and a really strong pre-conference schedule. It's a great mix of traditional NCAA tournament teams, regional, local and national rivals and also some new faces added to the UD schedule,” said Tucker. “Those matches will be used to prepare us as much as possible for our A-10 schedule. The A-10 matches include four of the top six teams from last season, so we have a difficult road to reaching the NCAAs. Playing a schedule as difficult as this is exactly the challenge that top level players desire and will be a treat for our fans."

Dayton, the three-time defending Atlantic 10 champions, will play nine home games at Baujan Field, four of them being conference matchups.  The Flyers’ non-conference home games are against Boston (Aug. 23), Northwestern (Aug. 26), Central Michigan (Aug. 31), DePaul (Sept. 2), and Wright State (Sept. 14).

The Flyers don’t begin their conference home schedule until Oct. 5 when they face off against Duquesne.  They meet St. Bonaventure on Oct. 7 before going on a small two-game road trip.  The Flyers then round off their season at home against Richmond (Oct. 26) and George Washington (Oct. 28).

Dayton’s road schedule consists of nine games as well, kicking off the season in the lone star state against Texas (Aug. 17) and Texas-San Antonio (Aug. 19).  Dayton’s other road games include a trip to Boston to take on Harvard (Sept. 7) and Northeastern (Sept. 9).

The Flyers’ conference road games include matchups against Xavier (Sept. 21), Charlotte (Sept. 28), Saint Louis (Sept. 30), Massachusetts (Oct. 12) and Rhode Island (Oct. 14).

The Atlantic 10 Women’s Soccer Championship will be held from Nov. 1-4 in Kingston, R.I.

In 2011, Dayton captured its third straight Atlantic 10 tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season.  The Flyers finished their season with an overall record of 19-4-0.
