NEWPORT NEWS, Va. –University of Dayton junior Matt Buse has earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Golf Academic All-Conference team.

This is the fourth year in a row the Flyers have an A-10 All-Academic team member and Buse's first career A-10 Academic All-Conference honor.

Buse became just the ninth UD men’s golfer to earn a spot on the conference’s all-academic team. Chris Woeste had back-to-back selections in 2010 and 2011. Rob Chappell was selected in 2009, preceded by Adam Meyers in 2004, A.J. Quinter in 2003, Matt Pagnatto in 1999 and 2000, Robert Hayes and Jeremy Schmidt in 1997 and Dwayne Kotera in 1996.

The junior from Cincinnati was a 2012 Atlantic 10 All-Conference selection two weeks ago after tying for third in the conference championship tournament.

Buse is only the third Flyer, joining Chappell in 2009 and Pagnatto in 2000, who have earned both academic and athletic all-conference honors in the same season.

Buse has five consecutive semesters on the Dean’s List. He possesses a 3.85 cumulative grade point average and majors in finance and business economics.

During the 2011-12 campaign, Buse was tied for the team lead in rounds played (26) and ranked fourth on the team in stroke average (75.0). He had 24 of his 26 rounds played were shot in the 70s or lower.

Among his highlights on the course this season, Buse shot career-best 68 at the 2012 Atlantic 10 Men’s Golf Championship and placed in the Top 15 three times.

Buse was one of five student-athletes on the 2012 Atlantic 10 Conference Men’s Golf Academic All-Conference team, recognizing student-athletes for their performance in the classroom and during competition on the links during the 2011-12 academic year.

Charlotte led all schools with three student-athletes named to the 2012 academic team, while Dayton and George Washington each had one student-athlete named to this year’s squad.

Joining Buse on this year’s academic team are Charlotte’s Olafur Loftsson, Paul Ferrier and Rafael Guerrero and George Washington’s Andres Pumariega.
