The Flyers host a pair of non-conference matches this weekend at Baujan Field. Dayton takes on Central Michigan this Friday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m. at Baujan Field and then DePaul this Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m.
THE SERIES
This is the second meeting between Central Michigan and the Flyers. UD leads the all-time series, earning a 1-0 overtime victory at Baujan Field on Sept. 17, 1999. The Flyers’ game vs. the Blue Demons Sunday marks the first time these two teams have met in women’s soccer.
FLYER FACTS
• Dayton is 3-1 this season and on a three-game winning streak, including 2-0 at home.
• The Flyers are outscoring opponents 14-7.
• Dayton leads the Atlantic 10 in shots (79), points (46), goals (14), and assists (18).
• Seven different Flyers have already scored a goal this young season, led by junior Juliana Libertin’s five scores. She leads the Flyers in points with 14, which is also first in the Atlantic 10.
• Other goal scorers are freshman Ashley Campbell (3), and senior Colleen Williams (2). Four Flyers have scored one goal: seniors Alexis Garcia and Alysha Mallon, sophomore Kelsey Smigel and freshman Nicole Waters.
• Seven Flyers have dished assists, led by Williams with five, which leads the A-10. Libertin and Mallon are second in the A-10 with four assists. Garcia has dished two assists. Others with one assist include: freshman Katie Krejsa and juniors Steph Emery and Sarah Senoyuit.
SCOUTING CENTRAL MICHIGAN AND DEPAUL
The Chippewas are 2-1-0 going into the match. They split at the Penn State Invitational last weekend with a 5-0 loss to Penn State and a 2-0 victory over West Virginia. The Chippewas will be led by three-time All-MAC selection Bailey Brandon. As a senior, she looks to be a critical part to the Chippewas’ defense. Senior goalkeeper Stefanie Turner is in goal for her second season and has already tallied two shutouts. CMU won MAC championships in 2009 and 2010, and finished second last season. DePaul plays at Wright State this Friday before facing off with Dayton Sunday. The Blue Demons are 3-1-0 going into the weekend. DePaul has wins over Towson (2-1), Ohio (3-0) and Valparaiso (1-0). The lone loss came against Loyola (1-0). The Blue Demons tied Northwestern 1-1 in an exhibition match (Dayton defeated the Wildcats 5-2 on Aug. 26). Junior Natasa Radosavljevic leads DePaul with five points.
UP NEXT
The Flyers travel to Boston for two non-conference matches: first up is Harvard on Friday, Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. and then Northeastern on Sunday, Sept. 9 at 1 p.m.
A-10 AWARDS SWEEP
Juliana Libertin and Ashley Campbell earned Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and Rookie of the week, respectively, for their efforts in wins over No. 19 Boston University (Aug. 23) and Northwestern (Aug. 26).
NATIONAL HONORS FOR LIBERTIN
Juliana Libertin was named the College Sports Madness National Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week and she was also selected the Sports Madness Conference Player of the Week. Top Drawer Soccer named Libertin to its 11-player National Team of the Week as well.
FLYER WIN STREAK
Junior Juliana Libertin scored two goals and had an assist, and senior Colleen Williams dished four assists to lead Dayton to a 5-2 victory over Northwestern (Aug. 26). It was the Flyers’ third consecutive win of the season.
FLYERS UPSET NO. 19 BOSTON U
Freshman Ashley Campbell scored on a cornerkick with 40 seconds left in double overtime to lift Dayton over No. 19 Boston University 2-1 on August 23rd at Baujan Field. Dayton scored early on senior Alysha Mallon’s bending corner kick in the third minute of the match. The Terriers got on the scoreboard on an Emma Clark blast from 30 yards out that went upper 90 far post. Campbell’s game-winning goal came on Juliana Libertin’s corner kick after a header by Sarah Senoyuit.

BAUJAN ATTENDANCE RECORD
A record 2,763 fans were on hand Aug. 23, 2012 for the NSCAA Women’s College Soccer Game of the Week (Dayton vs. Boston U) featured on FOX Soccer Channel. The previous Baujan Field attendance record was at a Flyer men’s soccer match, 2,137 on Nov. 5, 2011 vs. Xavier. The previous women’s attendance record was 1,674 on Nov. 6, 2011 when the Flyers defeated UMass to win the Atlantic 10 Championship.
UD PRESEASON RANKINGS
The Flyers were ranked or receiving votes in three preseason polls leading up to 2012. The Flyers were the highest ranked team in the Atlantic 10 in all three polls.

FLYERS PICKED TO WIN A-10 AGAIN
The Flyers received 13 of 16 possible first-place votes and were predicted to win the 2012 A-10 Women’s Soccer Championship, according to preseason voting conducted by the league’s 16 head coaches. Dayton lost three starters from its back line (All-American Kathleen Beljan, All-Conference Kelsey Miller and four-year starter Emily Kenyon), but return three players who scored double-digit goals (Juliana Libertin, Kelsey Smigel, and Colleen Williams). The Flyers, who hold an A-10 record with eight Championship titles and 10 regular season titles, return eight starters and 12 letterwinners from last year’s team.
HERMANN WATCH REPEAT
University of Dayton senior forward Colleen Williams was among 38 female athletes named to the Missouri Athletic Club’s Hermann Trophy Watch List for the 2012 season. The MAC Hermann Trophy is the highest individual award in intercollegiate soccer. Her 15 assists in 2011 were ranked second in the nation. She was also named to the preseason watch list last season.
PRESEASON ACCOLADES
Seniors Colleen Williams and Alexis Garcia, along with sophomore Kelsey Smigel, are three Flyers named to the preseason All-Atlantic 10 top-20 by TopDrawerSoccer. The Flyers join Richmond and newcomer VCU with as the only teams with three players on the list.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Flyer defenders Sarah Senoyuit and Meghan Scharer, both juniors, are being labeled players to watch by TopDrawerSoccer. The juniors will see a greater role on the backline for the Flyers.
SUPER SENIORS
By winning percentage, the Dayton senior class is the second best in the country. They were 16-1-6 as freshmen, 19-3-1 as sophomores and 19-4-0 as juniors. That’s an .833 winning percentage (54-8-7). Only Stanford’s senior class has a higher three-year winning percentage.
FLYER SUCCESS
The Dayton women’s soccer program owns an overall record of 381-155-40 (.696) since it became a varsity program in 1984. The Flyers made NCAA Tournament Appearances in 1998, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2009, 2010 and 2011, advancing to the second round in both 2009 and 2010 and to the Sweet Sixteen in 2001.
