HARTLAND, Mich. – In her first career collegiate tournament, Dayton Flyers freshman Michelle Suntay placed in third at the 2012 Detroit Titans Invitational.
After shooting a 74 in round one, Suntay fired a 75 in the second round. Since she played the tournament as an individual, her score did not count for UD’s team total.
In the team scoring, the Flyers placed in fourth with a 640 total. UD had an improvement from round one by firing a 312 team score in the second.
Junior Grace Nikolai placed in 10th after she shot a 79 in round two. It is her third career Top 10 finish.
Sophomore Kelly Muskat matched her career-best with a 79 in round two as well. Muskat ended the tournament tied for 12th.
The biggest improvement from the first round came from sophomore Lucy Frey. Frey rebounded from an 85 to shoot a career-best 75 in round two. She completed the tournament tied for 16th among individuals.
Junior Erin Peavy also improved from round one after shooting a 79 in the second 18 holes of play. Senior Kelly Coakley carded an 81 in round two to complete the scoring.
Up next for the Flyers will be the Ball State Cardinal Classic from Sept. 22-23. The event will take place from The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
