It was Dayton's turn to start off strong in the second set, taking the 5-1 lead but a Fordham rally evened the game at eight points apiece. The Ram lead was three, 12-9, after back-to-back Flyer attack errors and then stretched to four, 14-10, following a kill from Lindsay Ritchie. The Rams led by as many as five, 20-15, but sophomore Kill Loiars capped a 4-0 Flyer run to pull UD to within one, 20-19.
Campbell and Hannan combined at the net to block, tying the set at 22-22 and Hannan followed with a kill to earn Dayton the 23-22 lead. Fordham called for timeout to talk it over and after the regroup, earned sideout. A strong swing from Campbell gave UD set-point but FOR saved it with a kill from Ritchie. The frame went to extra points and the tables turned as Fordham held the 26-25 advantage and the serve. Brown was responsible for the Flyers' last three points with a kill, assisted block and a kill as Dayton won game two, 28-26, to take the 2-0 match lead.
It was much the same in the early going of the third set as UD opened the frame with a 4-1 run but FOR was able to even the score at five-all. The Dayton lead was six, 19-13, and Fordham was forced into calling its second timeout of the set. With a 5-2 run, the Flyers reached match-point at 24-16. Fighting to stay in the match, Fordham scored three more points before Loiars' kill earned Dayton the 25-19 third-set win and the 3-0 match victory.
