DENTON, Texas – The University of Dayton softball team suffered a 4-0 defeat at the hands of Nebraska-Omaha Sunday, finishing up competition at the Lovelace Invitational in Denton, Texas.
The game was even throughout most of the game as the Flyers and Mavs battled back and forth.
The scoring was deadlocked at 0-0 until the sixth inning when UNO went off on a tear with four-runs, giving the Mavs a lofty advantage.
Dayton was unable to overcome the deficit and fell to Nebraska-Omaha, 4-0.
Jordan Jennings was the only Flyer to pose a threat offensively, going 2-for-3 on the game.
Kayla English (0-3) was saddled with the loss for Dayton after allowing two runs on five hits in 5 1/3 innings.
The loss puts Dayton at 0-5 on the season while the Mavs improved to 9-1.
Dayton's Kathleen Maloof was named to the All-Tournament for the tournament after her performance over the weekend. She was the only Flyer to make the Lovelace Invitational squad.
The Flyers return to action next weekend when they travel to Bowling Green, Kentucky for the Holiday Inn Hilltopper Classic starting Friday. Dayton will have another five games over the three-day span.
