DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton volleyball program released their spring schedule for 2013.
The Flyers will begin the spring season with an April 9th contest at Morehead State against the Eagles. The match will take place at Wetherby Gym on the campus of Morehead State.
Next, Dayton will host Ohio at the Frericks Center on Saturday, April 13th. It will be the lone home game for the Flyers in the spring.
Dayton wraps up the spring season on Saturday, April 20th with a neutral court contest with Michigan State. The match will take place at Premier Volleyball Center in Maumee, Ohio.
"This is a great spring schedule filled with three very good teams,” said head coach Matt Affolder. “It has been our focus over the past few spring seasons to set up opportunities to train in a one-on-one atmosphere versus some of the best teams in the Midwest. This schedule will allow our team to do just that by battling in scrimmage situations and playing a match, which will give us the chance to evaluate our progress from a few different angles."
Coach Affolder also talked about the off-season preparations for the team.
"The team has been working extremely hard in the weight room with Coach Thobe, and our on-court training sessions thus far have had a defensive focus,” Affolder stated. “I have been very happy with the mentality of the players as we have pushed them to be tough, fearless defenders. I am excited for April and the chance to see our team battle some really good competition."
Times for the matches have yet to be determined, but will be released on DaytonFlyers.com.
Dayton is coming off both a regular season and tournament championship in the Atlantic 10 in 2012.
