UD SOFTBALL HOSTING GW SATURDAY IN PIVOTAL A-10 SERIES

DAYTON, Ohio - The University of Dayton softball team is set to play host to George Washington Saturday afternoon in an important Atlantic 10 Conference series. The Flyers and Colonials will square off at 11 a.m. for a doubleheader at UD Softball Stadium and admission to both games is free.

Series Preview
• The Flyers and Colonials have previously met 18 times with Dayton holding the 11-7 advantage in the series. UD and GW last squared off in the 2012 season.
• Dayton had a doubleheader scheduled at Akron on Wednesday but due to weather, the two squads were only able to get in one game - UD won, 4-3.
• George Washington had its 12-game winning streak snapped Wednesday after dropping the second game of a twin-bill at La Salle, 6-4.

Recent Action
• The Flyers have put together three-straight wins heading into Saturday’s games against George Washington. The team’s longest winning streak of the season has been four games.
• The Colonials were riding a 12-game winning streak before dropping the nightcap of their doubleheader at La Salle on Wednesday. Prior to Wednesday, GW hadn’t lost a game since April 5.

About the Flyers

• George Washington is also hitting at a .260 clip (t-6th A-10) and holds a .369 on-base percentage (5th A-10) and a .370 slugging percentage. Victoria Valos is the team’s offensive leader with a .368 average (7th A-10), 47 RBI (2nd A-10), 11 home runs (t-3rd A-10) and 38 runs scored (4th A-10).
• The pitching staff for GW holds a team ERA of 2.68 (2nd A-10) through 41 games. Courtney Martin is the squad’s ace, holding a 2.09 ERA (2nd A-10) and an even 10-10 record. She’s struck out 135 batters (3rd A-10) while walking only 36.

Last Meeting vs. George Washington
• The two programs most recently met in a doubleheader on April 21 last season in Dayton. The Flyers split with the Colonials, winning game one, 6-5, and losing 4-0 in the nightcap.
