2013 WOMEN'S SOCCER NON-CONFERENCE SCHEDULE ANNOUNCED

University of Dayton Head Coach Mike Tucker and his staff have finalized the non-conference portion of the 2013 women’s soccer schedule which features matchups against teams from the America East, Big East, Big Ten, Horizon, Mid-American, Southeastern and Sunbelt Conferences.

Five of UD’s 2013 opponents advanced to the 2012 NCAA Tournament, including Michigan which advanced to the NCAA Third Round.

“We have an exciting schedule; a very challenging schedule,” said Tucker. “We feel we can compete with every team on our schedule but it is going to be a battle every time we go out. Nothing will be easy. It is our tradition with scheduling to challenge ourselves and this year’s schedule is no exception.”

The Flyers will play two exhibition matches to prep for the season; the first is at Michigan on Friday, Aug. 16 and the second is versus Miami (Fla.) on Baujan Field Sunday, Aug. 18 at 1 p.m.

“Our two exhibition matches will test us right away and get us prepared for our season and our ultimate goal of getting to the NCAA Tournament,” said Tucker.
UD opens the 2013 regular season with an East coast road trip at Boston on Friday, Aug. 23 and at Providence on Sunday, Aug. 25.

Dayton’s home opener is Friday, Aug. 30 in a night game vs. Cincinnati at Baujan Field. The Flyers also host Michigan State that weekend on Sunday, Sept. 1.

The following weekend the Flyers will travel south to take on two SEC teams; first up is Tennessee on Friday, Sept. 6 and then at Kentucky on Sunday, Sept. 8.
UD’s final non-conference home game is against Florida International on Friday, Sept. 13. That same weekend the Flyers play at Wright State in a Sunday night game Sunday, Sept. 15.

The Flyers’ final non-conference games are at Central Michigan Friday, Sept. 20 and at Toledo on Sunday, Sept. 22.

“At the end of the day this schedule is getting us ready for Atlantic 10 play,” said Tucker. "And this challenging schedule will."

The Flyers have won the A-10 title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament three times in the last four years.
