DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton men's soccer team held its final preseason contest Sunday in the Red and White Game, with the Red team winning 5-2.
The Flyers were split into two squads to square off against each other in the annual inter-squad scrimmage.
For the victorious Red team, freshman Brian Richards, freshman Amass Amankona, and senior Abe Keller recorded a goal apiece while sophomore Maik Schoonderwoerd led the way with a pair of goals.
The White team had goals scored by redshirt-freshman Michael Frasca and Amankona once again.
As part of the tradition, a coveted Red Jersey will be announced that is given to the individual that best showed fitness, technical ability, and match play in the preseason. The scrimmage was the final session of that competition.
The Flyers will kick-off their 2013 regular season on Sept. 6 when they host the Dayton Tournament.
