ST. LOUIS -- The University of Dayton Flyer football team garnered recognition for its team member's success in the classroom for the 2013 fall semester, with 72 student-athletes named to the Pioneer Football League Academic Honor Roll. It is the 19th time in the 21-year history of the PFL that Dayton had the most team members on the honor roll.
It was also the third consecutive year UD had more than 70 members on the honor roll. The Flyers had 72 in 2012, and 71 last season.
The Flyers' 72 student-athletes helped the PFL recognize a record 590 student-athletes this year. Five of the 12 league schools had 50 more players honored. Following UD were Drake (66), Butler (61), Stetson (59) and Valparaiso (51).
The honor roll, established as a way for the league to recognize its outstanding student athletes, consists of student-athletes that posted a 3.0 grade point average or better during the fall semester.
