DI All-Academic TeamsLOUISVILLE, Ky – The University of Dayton softball team has been recognized by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) as a NCAA Division I All-Academic Team for the 2013-14 academic year. The team posted a 3.411 GPA ranking them 31st among all Division I teams and first among teams in the Atlantic 10, improving their ranking from 2012-13 (44th).
Ten Flyers were also honored as NFCA All-America Scholar Athletes including:
Emily Froment,
Dana Trotta,
Gabrielle Snyder,
Jenna Lopes,
Kirsten Bartlett,
Cynthia Leaton,
Kasi Vazquez,
Rachel Archer,
Lyndsey Diggs, and
Kennedy Haynes.
The NFCA Academic Awards program recognizes both collegiate and high school teams for their submitted GPAs from the 2013-14 academic year. The rankings honor the academic achievement of softball teams across seven membership divisions.
The University of Nebraska at Omaha led the way for NCAA Division I with a 3.670 GPA, while Adelphi University led Division II and all colleges with a 3.724 GPA. Emerson College topped Division III with a 3.644, and leading the NAIA was William Carey University with a 3.704. East Mississippi Community College posted a 3.587 to head the list of junior colleges, while Hazelton Area and Byron Nelson led the high school unweighted and weighted categories.
