The University of Dayton is the top school of the Atlantic 10 Conference and 10
th best among FCS schools in the 2014-15 Learfield Sports Directors' Cup Division I Fall Standings which were recently announced.
The UD women's soccer team advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the ninth time in program history to earn 25 points. The Flyer volleyball team advanced to the Second Round of the 2014 NCAA Championship, falling to the eventual National Champion Penn State, to earn 50 points.
Dayton, 60
th in the most recent standings, comes in right behind SEC schools Alabama (T-57
th) and Auburn (59
th), and is ranked ahead of Big Ten schools Nebraska and Minnesota, as well as the SEC's South Carolina. Stanford currently leads the standings.
The Learfield Sports Directors' Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and
USA Today. Points are awarded based on each institution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 women's and 10 men's. The 2014-15 athletic season marks the company's seventh consecutive year to title the prestigious Learfield Sports Directors' Cup.
