BRONX, N.Y. – The University of Dayton baseball team resumed Atlantic 10 play on Friday with a 6-3 win over the Fordham Rams.
Head coach 
Tony Vittorio talked about the win.
"We had great team offense early in the game," said Vittorio. "Noah (Buettgen) was the difference of the game with ground ball after ground ball outs. Our defense played well behind him."
Sophomore 
Aaron Huesman put the Flyers ahead early on with an RBI single to center, scoring junior 
Sergio Plasencia.
In the second inning, senior 
Kuris Duggan doubled Dayton's lead with an RBI double to deep left-center, giving the Flyers a 2-0 advantage.
Dayton continued to pile on the runs in the third and fourth innings with a single run in each frame. Junior 
Zach Schira contributed a sacrifice fly in the third for his 19
th RBI of the season before sophomore 
Luke Wolford ripped an RBI double to left in the fourth, making it a 4-0 ball game.
Fordham was finally able to get on the board in the seventh inning with a couple of runs, cutting the Flyers' lead to one run, 4-3.
Duggan got two of the runs back for Dayton in the top of the eighth with a two-run single to left. That pushed UD's advantage back to three at 6-3.
The Flyers went on to hold the Rams in check over the final two at-bats as Dayton went on to a 6-3 victory over Fordham.
Starter 
Noah Buettgen (3-3) stifled the Fordham hitters through the first six innings before giving up three runs in the seventh. The junior righty finished out the game for his first complete game of the season. He allowed eight hits while striking out five Rams.
Duggan led the offense for Dayton with a 3-for-4 outing and three RBI while Huesman went 3-for-5 with an RBI as well. UD out-hit Fordham 10-8 in the contest.
The Flyers (9-14, 3-1 A10) will meet the Rams again on Saturday with a 1 p.m. scheduled start time.
