Box Score
OXFORD, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team squared off against Miami (Ohio) on Tuesday and cruised to a 10-2 win over the RedHawks.

Head coach Tony Vittorio talked about the victory.

"We were in control of the game from start to finish," Vittorio stated. "Nick Gobert had a lot to do with that. Offensively, we were able to put great pressure on them."

The Flyers jumped out to a 1-0 lead after a wild pitch and a throwing error allowed senior Robby Sunderman to score the initial run.

In the second inning, Sunderman doubled the Flyers' lead by stealing home, his 12th stolen base of the season.

Dayton continued to pile on the hits while the pitching staff held the RedHawk hitters in check. Through the first four innings, the Flyers were outhitting host Miami 7-1.

In the top of the fifth, sophomore Aaron Huesman added two more runs to Dayton's tally with a triple to deep center. Junior Greg Rhude followed that up with an RBI single to right, plating Huesman. Redshirt freshman Glenn Jones capped off the inning with an RBI double to center, putting UD up 6-0.

Miami was able to break up the shutout attempt with a single run in the bottom of the fifth.

Jones picked up his second RBI of the game in the seventh frame with an RBI single up the middle.

In the eighth inning, Dayton got a pair of runs courtesy of a Miami error and a sacrifice fly by Huesman.

The RedHawks got a run back in the bottom of the frame to make it a 9-2 contest.

Dayton added insurance runs in the ninth inning and held the RedHawks in check in their final at-bat to record its 18th win of the year, 10-2.

Starting pitcher Nick Gobert (3-1) had the best performance of his young career, allowing just one earned run on four hits in eight innings. It marked the longest outing for the freshman this season.

The visiting Dayton squad racked-up 14 hits in the game, stole six bases, and benefitted from four Miami errors. Huesman led the way for UD with three RBI, two runs scored, and a 3-for-4 outing while Jones chipped in two RBI. Sunderman also scored three times and stole three bases. Rhude added a 3-for-3 outing with an RBI and a run as well.
