ST. LOUIS – The University of Dayton tennis teams traveled to St. Louis this weekend, with the men coming through with a close 4-2 win and the women lost 4-0.
The men took the doubles point and then got clutch singles performances from freshman
Andy Druffel and senior co-captain
Andrew Hanley to earn their fifth win in seven matches. Druffel fought off four match points before winning the second set and his match 7-6. Hanley clinched the victory with a three-set win.
Josh Malyon also won his singles match in straight sets. The Flyers won the doubles point when Malyon and
Bernardo Sanson captured no. 1 singles, and
Aidan Koross and
Colin Bernier did the same at no. 2 doubles.

A strong Billiken women's team improved to 13-4 with a 4-0 win over the Flyers. SLU opened the scoring by winning the doubles point, although UD's No. 3 doubles team of

Katie Boeckman were leading their match when it was suspended. Saint Louis assured itself of its seventh straight win with three straight-set wins in singles.
Mandy Marchant was tied 1-1 in the third set when her match was suspended.

The Flyers have three matches next weekend. UD will travel to Nashville on Friday to visit Tennessee State, come back north about an hour to face Western Kentucky, and then return home to play St. Bonaventure on Sunday. Sunday's home match times with be 12 noon ET for the men and 4:00 p.m. ET for the women.
