DAYTON, Ohio – University of Dayton softball hosted the Miami Valley Xpress Invitational on Saturday September 20. There were four games total with Rio Grande, Thomas More College, Northern Kentucky University and Dayton competing throughout the day.
In the Flyers first game of the day they defeated Thomas More 2-0. Senior
Tiffany Ricks went 2-for-3 at the plate.
Gabrielle Snyder pitched 5.0 innings for Dayton, while freshman Manda Cash pitched the last 2.0 innings.
In game two for the Flyers, they defeated Northern Kentucky 7-3.
Tiffany Ricks again went 2-for-3 at the plate and senior
Natalie Mariano was 3-for-4 at the plate.
Katie Ryan hit a three run home-run in the Flyers victory over the Norse.
Dayton then hosted University of Findlay on Sunday September 21 in a doubleheader. The Flyers defeated the Oilers in both games winning game one 2-1 and game two 4-1.
Tiffany Ricks was hot at the plate again in both games going 2-for-3 in game one and 2-for-3 with two homeruns in game two.

Gabrielle Snyder started in the circle for the Flyers pitching 3.0 innings. Manda Cash and
Lyndsey Diggs each pitched 2.0 innings. In game two
Kayla English started on the mound for the Flyers pitching 3.0 innings, followed by Manda Cash pitching 1.0 and
Emily Froment closing out the game pitching 3.0 innings.
"We are really proud of our pitching staff for keeping us in the games," commented head coach LaPlaca. "We are also pleased that our offense was able to take advantage of any opportunities to help us win."
