BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University of Dayton women's track and field competed at the Tom Wright Open hosted by Bowling Green State University.
"Today was a good day," said Head Coach
Jason Francis. "The coaching staff was really impressed with what we saw from the women today. This was a good step as we get one week closer to the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships."
The Flyers earned 85 points as a team, earning fourth place overall. Dayton edged out Toledo, but came up just short of Ohio, Miami and host Bowling Green.
Junior
Jordan Hoffman finished fourth in the 60m dash prelims with a time of 7.913 while teammate
Maya Pedersen was right with her in fifth with a time of 7.917. It was the first time either Flyers competed in the event in their careers and both advanced to the finals.
In the finals of the 60m dash, Pedersen took control this time, finishing third with a time of 7.90. Hoffman finished 8
th with a time of 7.98, adding to Dayton's point total.
In the 60m hurdles, junior
Paige Yaeger took 10
th while setting a career best time. She went on to take third in the 600m and set another personal best.
In the pole vault,
Leah Frischmann had an outstanding performance, hitting a mark of 3.85m, a Top Five all-time height and a career high for the freshman. That earned her first place, just ahead of senior
Ashley DeMange, who posted a height of 3.70m. Freshman
Hayley Clark added points with a fifth-place finish and a height of 3.40m, a personal best.
Senior
Rebecca Maj took first overall in the high jump, tying a season-best mark of 1.65m, earning Dayton 10 points in the event. Fellow senior
Isolde Hannan jumped a career-high 1.55m, adding another point to the Flyers' total and taking sixth place.
In the long jump, junior
Sydney Riethman was just shy of a career high with a distance of 5.25m, good enough for sixth place in the event.
The weight throw saw another 12 points for the Flyers as three student athletes set personal records. Senior
Miranda Nelson recorded a 16.94m performance, earning fourth place. Freshman
Erin Reese and Jenni Rossi also had PR's in the event while senior
Aly Weeman finished runner-up with a distance of 18.02m.
Dayton swept the podium in the shot put with Nelson finishing first (13.65m), Reese finishing second (13.20m), and Rossi finishing third (13.07m).
The 200m event saw Pedersen take fourth with a 26.07 performance. Hoffman also competed and finished 13
th. Six more points were added to Dayton's total.
The 800m run wrapped up the night for Dayton as sophomore
Maggie Pryslak earned a fifth-place finish while freshman
Megan O'Kane took seventh.
The Flyers will next compete at the Thundering Herd Open in Huntington, West Virginia on Jan. 30 and 31.
