Box Score CARTERSVILLE, Ga. – The University of Dayton baseball team finished up its series with Morehead State on Monday with a 5-1 loss.
The Flyers jumped out in front of the Eagles in the top of the third inning with an RBI single by senior
A.J. Ryan, which scored senior
Greg Rhude from third.
Morehead State managed to tie the game up in the bottom of the fourth via small ball after a sacrifice bunt put a runner on third and a defensive error scored the tying run. In that same frame, the Eagles added three more hits to take a 4-1 advantage.
In the fifth, Morehead added to its lead with a solo home run by Kane Sweeney.
Despite leading early on, the Flyers finished the weekend with a 5-1 loss at the hands of the Eagles.
Dayton and Morehead matched each other with five hits apiece, but four of Dayton's hits came in the first three innings. Ryan had the lone RBI for the Flyers while Rhude scored the lone run.

Nick Gobert (L, 0-1) pitched four innings and gave up four runs on three hits while striking out two. Dayton went on to use five other pitchers over the last four innings to give some work to the bullpen. Redshirt freshman

The Flyers (1-5) will next compete at the Austin Peay Classic in Clarksville, Tenn. this coming weekend. UD opens with Western Michigan Friday at 12 p.m.
