DAYTON, Ohio – The University of Dayton baseball team will host former Atlantic 10 foe Xavier on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Woerner Field.

GAME PREVIEW

• Dayton is 7-18 this season and 1-9 in home games, which include contests played at Athletes in Action in Xenia, Ohio. The Flyers are coming off a tough 5-4 loss at La Salle on Sunday, but UD did take game two of the series 11-1. Dayton has only been shutout one time this season and is averaging 5.04 runs per game.
• Xavier is entering the week with an 8-19 record overall and a 4-14 record in road games this season. The Musketeers are currently on a three-game losing streak after dropping all three games against Northern Kentucky this past weekend. Head Coach Scott Googins is in his 10^th season at the helm and was the Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year back in 2008.

WHO TO WATCH

• Dayton is batting .234 as a team with a .322 slugging percentage and a .336 on-base percentage. The Flyers have recorded 54 extra-base hits and drawn 137 free passes while stealing 32 bases this year.
• Leading the way for the Flyers is senior Alex Harris, who is batting .295 with seven doubles and 14 RBI, and senior Sergio Plasencia, who has 15 RBI and coming off a three-RBI performance against La Salle.
• The pitching staff for UD has combined for an ERA of 5.35 and 193 strikeouts in 227 innings of work. Junior Sam Brunner has a team-high four saves with freshman Mason Kutruff leading the team with three wins.
• Dayton defensively has a .954 fielding percentage and 46 errors on the season.
• The Xavier offense is batting at a .237 clip with nine home runs, 35 steals, and a .316 on-base percentage.
• Fifth-year senior Brian Bruening leads the team with 17 RBI to go with eight steals while junior Andre Jernigan is batting .294 with nine steals and 16 RBI.
• The Musketeer pitching staff has a team ERA of 4.66 with 184 k's compared to 123 walks. Senior Jacob Bodner has a pair of saves on the year and sophomore Greg Jacknewitz has a 2.59 ERA and two wins in nine relief appearances.
• Xavier defensively has a .961 fielding percentage and 40 errors on the year.

 
LAST MEETING

• The former rivals last met on March 1, 2014 in Clarksville, Tenn. at the Austin Peay Classic. On that day, Xavier was victorious by a score of 16-1. Junior Daniel Rizzie had four RBI to lead the Musketeers
